GeoSPARQL query support for scientific raster array data

This paper presents the design of a GeoSPARQL query processing solution for scientific raster array data, called GeoLD. The enables implementation SPARQL endpoints on top OGC standard Web Coverage Processing Services (WCPS). Thus, semantic querying data is supported without need specific functions in language. To achieve this, first to RDF mapping solutions were defined, based well-known W3C mappings relational data. Next, algebra extended with new operator that delegates part WCPS services. Query optimization replaces those parts plan may be delegated service by instances such operator. A prototype has been implemented extending ARQ engine Apache Jena. Petascope was used as Rasdaman database. An initial evaluation real meteorological shows, it initially expected, approach outperforms an existing reference database implementation. • Efficient support queries coverages. Definition coverage approaches. Federated vector–raster geospatial enabled SPARQL. Raster access additional operators beyond GeoSPARQL.
